ne of Ogun’s praise names is "Aladaa Meji", meaning "the one with two cutlasses". In Cuba his traditional colors on the "ileke", the beaded necklaces, would be black and green. The black color stems from the dark indigo dye, is often used for hunter deities, and green is used because he is a hunter and deity of the forest. He lives in the bush, knowing secrets of herbs and medicine. The swords or cutlasses show his warrior attitude as the god of iron and civilization.
